中華優秀傳統文化既是中華民族核心的文化基因和精神家園，也是中華民族生生不息、源遠流長的豐沛滋養。弘揚中華優秀傳統文化，具有超越時空、跨越疆界、鑒古知今、立德修身的現實意義和永恒魅力。

中國經典小故事是中華優秀傳統文化的豐富寶藏。這些小故事言簡意賅，生動形象，記錄了中國悠久的歷史、燦爛的文明和多彩的文化，熔文學性、知識性、趣味性、哲理性、教育性于一爐，啟智增慧，培根鑄魂。

《用英語介紹中國經典小故事》正是基于這種理念推出的，這些小故事雅俗共賞，入眼入心，短小精悍，朗朗上口，既有波譎云詭、想象奇絕的神話故事，又有形形色色、妙趣橫生的人物故事，也有入木三分、醍醐灌頂的寓言故事，還有栩栩如生、活靈活現的歷史故事，更有千錘百煉、意味深長的成語故事和千回百轉、蕩氣回腸的傳奇故事……這些故事涵蓋做人、處事、修身、教育、愛國等主題，多角度、多層面、全方位精彩呈現了偉大祖國的源遠流長，以及絢麗多姿的文化寶藏。

本書采用故事、英語譯文、注解、感悟的方式進行編排，精心翻譯，力爭再現經典故事的神韻與風姿。焦作市文化館婁莎莎參與了本書編譯，負責漢語部分的審校。
